Subject: How "long" is a 2-minute Flash demo?
Message:

Two minutes of course!

Sarcasm aside, a two-minute Flash demo is around 260 words or 130 words per minute. Not very long.  That's why a "two-minuter" needs to be  written as a concise, high-level elevator pitch, not a detailed software demo. It has to be extremely easy to understand by people in a hurry.  Business graphics and visual metaphors should be given priority over screenshots and complicated tables and charts.

Below is a Flash demo that we wrote and produced for Verizon Wireless. It runs 6 minutes and 38 seconds.

Here are the first 2 minutes or 258 words of the actual script. Click here to view the Flash demo and follow along:

The world is going mobile.  And companies large and small need to get their corporate data and applications onto a wide array of wireless devices. The question is, what’s the best approach?

The Wireless Sync Enterprise Server from Verizon Wireless is a software platform that enables companies to deliver critical business information to their mobile workers – anytime and anywhere.

The software consists of there modules – Wireless Email, Device Management, and File Sync. We’ll discuss each one in detail. But first, let’s see how Wireless Sync works.

To get started, Verizon Wireless customers download the Wireless Sync Enterprise Server and install it behind the corporate firewall. The server is then connected to the company’s corporate email server. And for customers with File Sync, to the corporate file server.

Wireless Sync sets up a secure, encrypted connection through the Internet to the users’ Smartphone or PDA, running on the Verizon Wireless network. Information is synchronized continuously between the users mobile device and the Wireless Sync Enterprise Server.

Wireless Sync supports a broad range of Verizon Wireless smart phones and PDAs, including those running Windows Mobile and Palm OS, and enabling customers to pick the device that best fits their needs. The Wireless Sync Enterprise Server also supports devices running on other carrier networks, enabling Verizon Wireless customers to purchase one solution to meet all their mobile email needs.

Now let’s take a look at each of the modules in the Wireless Sync Enterprise Server. First, let’s look at Wireless Email. With this capability, users can receive their email, calendar, appointments…

Again, 260 words is not long at all. But sometimes keeping things short and simple is the hardest thing in the world!
